Or is there a step I'm missing I've been looking at this in my spare time for well over a week with nothing really.

Could I have ended up with a window's version of the Webtools since I downloaded from a windows machine. Opened plex again and no plugin was found. Unzipped and dropped into /mnt/WDred/iocage/jails/Plex/plugin/ via ftp, and changed permissions to open 777.

Then tried downloading the latest directly from github on my windows 10 machine. Every command returned a not supported line. I tried a few instructions for downloading via the Plex Plugin's Shell but considering the solutions I found were dated I think i can safely conclude that something structurally has changed as some of the posts were a few years old. I have been trying to get the Unsupported Plugin.
Plex server 404 not found update#
I am running freenas 11.3 with the latest (maybe second latest as of now) update of the Plex Media Server plug-in. All of this of course is done using a "Docker" which is super easy to setup and use.Hopefully this is a simple thing I'm overlooking. Once it goes through the early stages it's a lot more rare that a drive will die with no warning.

It's like 99% all on the web panel, it's just knowing how to get started which the wiki is VERY detailed as well.ĮDIT: Another note on the drive failures is we normally recommend one parity for like up to 12 or 15 drives is my understanding, however you can have more it's kind of just regular that we keep a drive on hand that are what is called "pre-cleared" which is a process of 0'ing the drive and running a huge stress test on it before adding it to the "Array" of drives on the system as it helps with early "Infant Mortality" which to my understanding is the biggest issue with HDD Failures. There is very little command or (terminal) usage unless you get more into it and even then the Unraid forums/community is extremely helpful. So I mean with Unraid, you have a secure, reliable, & redundant OS.

There is also a setting for monthly or weekly or bi-whatever "parity check" that runs when you set it and automatically runs on schedule. Especially since in Unraid you have a lot of SMART scans and features to show hard drive degradation. The chances of two drives failing at the same time is extremely low. Yes, you can have I believe as many "Parity" drives as you'd like however it is genuinely understood you don't use more than one unless you have like 12 drives. Good luck on your decision, i never used Windows for a media server but if I was using it, I would dive in because using Linux and Unraid specifically is amazingly fun!

ANYTHING is so much better than just using the hdd as a cache.Īnother thing is its not recommended to use a hdd or ssd for the unraid install, youre best to use a thumb drive. Even though Unraid is probably the most easiest, it is without a doubt very different from windows and the things that make your life a lot more simple is a bit to learn.Īnother thing you'll want is a "cache" SSD that holds all of your dockers and plug-ins, you dont necessarily need a cache but I promise you the loading of dockers like Plex or Nextcloud or. Windows to unraid is a BIG move and honestly it will make your life so much easier in the long run but if you've never used a Linux distro id be careful, there is a lot to learn. It would just mean that wouldn't know about that server. This will make it so if you lose a drive due to a failure it can be replaced and no data is lost. If you get that problem on a clean install, then that suggests you have a problem with plex, not a problem with reusing a previous library. If you move to Unraid you'll need to dedicate a "parity drive" that is the same size or bigger than all of your other drives in the system.
